Welcome to Gordon's Blog!
Gordon was in local government for 21 years, including 11 years as Head of Revenues and/or Benefits in the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Croydon. Since 1997, he has run his own business as an independent consultant. His work is quite varied but he takes a special interest in the complexities of business rates in England, Scotland and Wales.
He is a well-known public speaker, lecturer and consultant on local taxation matters. He currently serves on the DCLG/LGA System Design Working Group for 100% Business Rate Retention. Gordon has twice served as Chairman of the London and Home Counties Association of the IRRV.
He is a co-author of various Institute publications and a regular contributor to the Institute’s Valuer magazine.
Gordon was recently elected as President of the Institute at the IRRV Annual Conference in Telford.
